A bit of backstory on Brian
Brian began his filmmaking journey as an award-winning indie writer/director with the narrative feature American Yearbook (Audience Choice Award at Dances With Films Festival) and the feature documentary Beyond Borders: The Debate Over Human Migration (debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival), personally editing both features. Additionally he produced and edited the feature documentary Comix: Beyond The Comic Book Pages as well as tv commercial campaigns, narrative features, short films, music videos, docuseries, and even cooking shows after graduating film school at Columbia College Hollywood.
Following his passion and talent for editing, Brian soon became a member of the Motion Picture Editor’s Guild (Local 700) as an Assistant Editor, and quickly found himself working on some of the top Emmy Award-winning shows in television. His experience working on such hit shows as Veep, American Horror Story, Pose, Dave, and Shameless taught him a highly diverse set of genre skills that he uses regularly on every project he tackles. He developed a truly eclectic and advanced skillset in sound design, pacing, tone, and visual storytelling. He has a wealth of experience, having worked and collaborated with some of the best editors, directors, and producers working in film and television such as Ryan Murphy, Hello Sunshine, John Wells, Taylor Sheridan, and others. He honed his skills in dramatic storytelling on Little Fires Everywhere (Hulu), Lawmen: Bass Reeves (Paramount+), SNAP (AMC’s AllBlk Network), Surface (Apple TV+), and the Netflix studio feature film End of the Road (as a 1st Assistant Editor). He even spent a year as a Visual Effects Editor on CW’s Supergirl, where he became quite advanced in vfx workflow and storytelling, which he incorporates effortlessly into his editing on a regular basis.
Brian truly feels that he is a storyteller first, having written a handful of screenplays and directed films before his tv editing and assistant editing career. He has immersed himself in his life-long passion for story, and makes every cut, sound design, vfx, or music choice from a place of continuing to uphold and further the emotional power of the story he is telling with his work.
Brian is a Los Angeles-based editor, living in Lake Balboa with his wife Stacy and his two cats.
